"Citizens target the politicians post mumbai terror attacks"

ibnlive.in.com/news/citizens-target-politicians-post-mumbai-terror-attacks/79410-3.html

We being the taxpayers and citizens of the country have every right to ask the government and the elected representatives to be accountable for our security and safety.

When employees of both the government and private sectors are asked to be responsible for their work else given pink slips then why should we spare these politicians and forgive them for their stupid mistakes.

we have every right to ask and will be found guilty if we do not demand our safety and security.

This was one of the most anticipated trekking routes which i was waiting to explore and boy i wasnt disappointed. Sampath our trekking organiser and a very good friend of mine took us in his maiden water sports trek to the sharavati backwater region and it was simply too good to put in words. We spent 2 days canoeing, karaoeking and exploring the small islands in the region. It was an adventurous fun filled and joyous trip.

After so many people dropping in and out we finally had a group of 11 people including sampath, john, ganesh, rajesh, shashi, the cook dharma and the support staff who came for the event. we reached the camping site by 8 in the morning and immediately took the boats and the kayaks and left the shores and after about an hour we had come to a small island which served as a camping site. The location of the camping site was a paradise with wonderful scenery of river, mountains and greenery all around us.After having delcious Upma and tea for breakfast we had an informal swimming session during the morning and a class by sampath on how to handle boats and oars in the river. later after a simple lunch We went on island exploration by boats and had a great time taking pictures of the beautiful scenery around. At nite we had yummy dinner of rice rasam and payasa and kashaya which was delicious. We pitched our tents and spent the rest of the evening chatting and having fun and went to bed early.

The next day we were woken up with thunder showers early in the morning. After it subsided we had bright sunshine and went swimming, everyone participated in this event even though some didn’t know swimming. It was fun having a group swimming event.we had akki rotti and sambhar for breakfast and then had a session on kayaking. After having lots of fun on the water and learning to row we had lunch and photo session along with jackets and paddles.

we decided to go back home early as many people had office the next day. we reached Bangalore at 4am on Monday morning and after the routine wishes and goodbyes left for our respective homes. overall it was a nice trek where we had a lot of fun

Today was  a great day for India at the olympics. They had a bronze medal in the form of Sushil Kumar for wrestling and an assured bronze medal for Vijeyender Singh in Boxing 75 kg freestyle. Sushil Kumar lost to Uzbekian who went to the finals. As a result sushil kumar was alotted to the repochee event where he won rounds against next 3 opponents successively thus winning the bronze medal. Vijeyender won a bout against his opponent by margin of 10-4. He still has a semifinal bout on 22nd August

It was a great moment in Indian Olympic sport history. India has never won more than 1 medal in any olympics till date barring the one in 2000 where India had won 2 bronze medal but was stripped of 1.

So india is assured of winning 3 medals in 2008 making it the most successful campaign in the Olympics till date.

Jai Hind. :-)

why do indian athletes falter at the olympic level? what steps should be taken so that our

athletes take medals at the olympics?

In the last 60 years at olympics indian athletes have not performed well in individual and group

events at the olympics as seen in the medal tally. Athletes have failed to qualify even for the

finals of the events in many individual and team events. The reasons for such poor performance

are many

Indian athletes are not able to compete with other athletes due to lack of quality training

facilities which are available for athletes and poor planning while taking part in such

activites. People of India are more focussed on academics than on other sporting events. This

leads to the athletes not being serious and competetive enough in order to win medals. Also there

are few sponsors and less media attention for various sporting events when compared to cricket

leading to winners not being recognised and supported properly in our Indian system.

Proper care should be taken to groom athletes for their performance oriented development. Also

sponsorship and media attention should not be given to cricket alone when compared to other

sports. Athletes should be recognised at the district and zonal level and proper training, sponsorship and encouragement should be provided to them. Performance should be the sole merit for the selection of athletes instead of selecting candidates based on politics. Also performance based rewards and incentives should be given to deserving athletes.

I went to my school to celebrate independence day on August 15th after a gap of 6 years. It felt really good to go back to my school and interact with all my teachers who thought me at the school. There were cultural programmes on the occasion of Independence day and sweets were distributed to all.

It brought back all those fond memories during  my school  life.

It was an occasion which i would never forget. :)

Today 8 blasts occured between 1.15 to 2.30pm. All these blasts were low intensity ones occuring near Audogodi, nayandanahalli, Koramangala, Madivala,Pantharapalya, Vittal Mallya Road, Richmond circle,Hosadurgahalli,Gopalan Mall. These places are on my way to work in office.

One woman was killed and 15 people were injured. Thankfully the impact was less otherwise it would have been another horror story in the making. Already politicans have started mudslinging against one another claiming intelligence failure. Now the important point is whats the point in mud slinging when the damage is done. Its time these politicians honchos shut up and allow the police and security agencys to do their work.

All the bombs were detonated using timers and mobile phones. To prevent further damage all the mobile lines were jammed in the afternoon and most people were unable to call. Most companies and colleges on hearing the blasts allowed the employees to go home early. Bangalore is still in a state of high alert. There is still heavy jam in most major roads of the city as the people are trying to rush home.

Its a shocking and a sad day for most of the people living in bangalore confirming whether their near & dear ones are safe and and trying to reach home as early as possible. Added to it is the misery of heavy rain coming in bangalore from the past few days.

its time we join together to pray for the souls who were killed in this cowardly act by the terrorists and be more aware and act as responsible citizens of the country
